What to expect on the day of your LASIK procedure

April 16, 20264 min read

Nervous about the day itself? That's completely normal — and almost everyone is surprised by how quick and gentle it actually is. Here's what happens.

Arrival and preparation

You'll be welcomed, and we'll do a final check. Numbing drops go in — no needles — so your eyes are comfortable. You stay awake the whole time; there's no general anaesthetic.

The treatment

The laser part takes only about 10–15 minutes per eye. You'll be asked to look at a light while the laser does its work; you may feel light pressure, not pain. It's over before most people expect.

Right after

Your vision may be hazy and your eyes a little watery at first — that's normal. After a short rest, you'll head home (arrange for someone to drive you). Many people notice things sharpening within hours.

Plan for the day

Expect to be at the clinic for one to two hours in total. Take the rest of the day easy, start your eye drops as instructed, and we'll see you for your day-one check.
